Location of Robert Houston McLaury's Merideth farm. In 1841, Robert bought 200 acres in East Merideth and built a home for his wife and family. On 10 January 1843, tragedy struck the family when a fire destroyed the house and took the life of their third child, Hugh. The McLaury's rebuilt the house and lived there until 1856, when the family emigratedto Iowa. Source: John Culligan collection. |
| Location of Ebenezer Rowland's farm Father of Margaret Rowland who married Robert Houston McLaury (5.169). The Rowlands figured prominently in Delaware County history. Like the McClaughry's, many members of Ebenezer's line became practioners of the law. After their deaths, the farm was split evenly between the Rowland sons. Source: John Culligan collection. |
